I Exchanged My Sapphire Ring for a KitchenAid…No Kidding.

May 28, 2012 in Brunch, Dessert, Giveaways, Pretty Pictures, Recipes, Reviews, Sweet

I am the type of person who loves. I love my family. (obviously) I love my friends. I love food. I love Montana. I feel like I should be saying “I love lamp.” (I also love the movie Anchorman…that was a reference to a line in that most awesome movie.) I love raspberries. I love Nutella. I love KitchenAid. I actually have loved KitchenAid for more than 30 years! The only time I can think of that my kitchen was without a KitchenAid was for the first few years of marriage. One morning, as we were opening presents my son Danjo, who was at the time about 3 or 4, marched over to me with a small box and said with as much excitement and enthusiasm as I have ever seen…”OPEN UP YOUR RING MOMMY!” You could just see my husbands heart sink with knowing the surprise had been ruined. Of course it wasn’t ruined. It was still a wonderful surprise. I love the thought and we soon set off to exchange it for my KitchenAid ;)  I love KitchenAid. More than jewelery. More than many things.

I love YOU guys. That’s why I’m gonna give one of you a BEAUTIFUL, BRAND NEW KITCHEN AID STAND MIXER!!!

Now the mind-boggling recipe that I am sharing with you can be made WITH this stand mixer. I would normally use my ice cream attachment with the mixer to make my sorbet. I REALLY wanted to share the sorbet with my dad and his wife Linnie so I sucked it up, packed the base in a few thermos and drove the two hours to his house and asked him if we could use HIS ice cream maker (I TOTALLY am getting him an ice cream maker attachment for his birthday, don’t tell him.) He had an ice cream maker, luckily. It’s one of the models that requires ice and rock salt and takes about 40 minutes to complete the freezing. With my KitchenAid ice cream attachment it takes about 20 minutes and requires no ice or salt. It’s pretty groovy.

This vision you see above you is Raspberry Nutella Sorbet. It is the BEES knees!! Most definitely worthy of my Daddy AND KitchenAid! I will share the recipe with you right after I tell you how to win the beautiful Crystal Blue KitchenAid.

Raspberry Nutella Sorbet
Recipe Type: dessert, frozen, sorbet
Author: Carrie Fields
Prep time: 15 mins
Cook time: 20 mins
Total time: 35 mins
Serves: 8
This is so deep and full of flavor. One devourer said they wanted to just hold it in their mouth to keep it with her forever. It is GOOD
Ingredients
  • • 2- 14 ounce packages frozen raspberries, thawed
  • • 1/2 cup sugar
  • • 3 tablespoons raw honey
  • • 1 ½ cups water
  • • 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder
  • • 1/3 cup Nutella
  • • 1/4 cup raspberry liqueur (I used Chambord)
Instructions
  1. Push raspberries through fine metal sieve, over a clean bowl; set bowl of juice aside and discard pulp.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, honey, and water.
  3. Over medium heat, bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  4. Add cocoa; cook stirring constantly, 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat, whisk in Nutella and then the raspberry puree and raspberry liqueur.
  6. Chill in refrigerator at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. The colder it is, the finer the crystals, the smoother the mouth feel.
  7. Freeze in an ice cream freezer according to manufacturer’s directions.

I can’t wait to hear your limericks! The winner will be selected via Random.org and announced May 30th.

*I was not reimbursed for this post or given free product. KitchenAid is generously providing the giveaway. (pretty sad I can’t win, but super happy you can). I only want to share what I love with you, so that is all you will ever see me reviewing, or giving away.

Be good sweet readers. Be good! But not too good. That’s boring.
